Building Knowledge and Confidence

In Years 4 and 5 your child will be encouraged to get involved and have a go, to be prepared to make mistakes, learn form them and to try again.

We celebrate effort as much as we do achievement, building your child's confidence to stretch and challenge themselves as the depth and breadth of their learning grows.

Building on the foundations laid in Year 3, your child will continue to have lessons in English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, History, Geography, Religious Studies, French, PE (including swimming) and Games, Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Design Technology, PHSE, and Forest School in Year 4

As your child moves into Year 5, teaching by subject specialists increases. Swimming and Forest School leave the curriculum (although remain available through clubs and activities). Instead your child will have a fortnightly Food Technology lesson, taught by a Senior School teacher in the Senior School Food and Nutrition kitchen.

Further details of our exciting and engaging curriculum can be found in the BGS Infant and Junior Curriculum booklet.
