Learning Support

Tailored support to succeed

Our inclusive approach recognises and caters for a wide range of learning needs, creating a positive environment of care, respect, and encouragement.

We make reasonable adjustments to support our pupils with specific learning requirements, ensuring they thrive both academically and personally. Your child's Form Teacher is the first line of support, closely monitoring progress in the classroom and engaging with parents and carers to discuss any concerns. If a need for additional support is identified, our Learning Support Coordinator, Mrs Lucy Hargreave, will work closely with families to identify the best approach for each child. Mrs Hargreave is always available to offer guidance, support, and tailored recommendations.

If you are considering joining BGS and are already aware that your child has specific learning needs – whether formally diagnosed or not – our Admissions team would be very happy to arrange a conversation with Mrs Hargreaves to ensure that BGS Juniors will be able to support them, ahead of any application being made.

The Junior years are also a time of rapid personal development. Negotiating friendships and managing emotions can be challenging for some children. To help those who find themselves struggling, our specially trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) provide dedicated support to help children navigate their emotions, build resilience, and develop essential social skills. This ensures that every child at BGS is not only achieving academically but also feeling happy, confident, and fully engaged in school life.
