Sport for Life

At BGS Juniors, we believe that sport is so much more than just exercise - it's a chance for children to have fun, build confidence, and stay active in a way that feels exciting and rewarding.

Our weekly Failand sessions give every child the opportunity to enjoy fresh air and physical activity, while our after-school practices provide extra coaching for those keen to refine their skills or be part of a team. From Year 3 onwards, children can take part in fixtures against local schools, experiencing the thrill of competition while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and the joy of playing alongside friends.

We believe that every child should have the chance to represent the School, whether in an informal tournament or a more competitive match. Whether they’re just discovering a love for sport or already passionate about a particular game, there’s a place for them to challenge themselves, grow and - most importantly - enjoy the experience.

For our Year 3 and 4 pupils, PE lessons include an exciting opportunity to swim at Bristol University’s pool for half the year, helping to build confidence and important water skills. Keen swimmers are also able to represent the school at swimming galas. The rest of their PE time is filled with a mix of sports hall activities and outdoor adventures at Forest School, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable approach to staying active.

No matter their ability or experience, we encourage all children to give sport a go, have fun, and, we hope, develop a love of sport or exercise that will help them stay healthy for life.
