The Junior School Day

At BGS Juniors, we know that family life is busy, so we offer a range of flexible care options to help your day run smoothly.

The school day begins at 8:30am, but if you need an earlier start, you can drop your child off at Breakfast Club from 7:45am in the Sixth Form Centre’s JCR, or from 8:15am in the main playground.

Mornings are filled with three engaging lessons and usually an assembly. Lunchtime begins at 12:00pm, where children can choose from a delicious selection of hot meals and salads (plus a pudding!) before heading off to afternoon lessons or Games at Failand. The school day officially ends at 3:40pm, but the playground remains supervised until 4:00pm which works well for families with older siblings in the Senior School.

Need a little extra time before pick-up? Homework Time runs until 4:30pm, offering a quiet space for children to get a head start on their work. After that, our After-School Care provides a warm and welcoming space until 5:45pm, run by our friendly Teaching Assistants in a familiar Junior School classroom.

We understand that plans can change, so after-school care can be booked online as and when you need it, with the flexibility to adjust or cancel bookings up to 24 hours in advance. The cost will be added to your termly bill, and we’re happy to accept Childcare Vouchers.

Children can also take part in a variety of after-school clubs, run by our teachers, where they can explore new hobbies, develop their talents, and enjoy time with friends. These typically last 45 minutes after school and add a little extra fun to their day.
