Music, Drama and Dance

At Bristol Grammar School, the Performing Arts are an integral part of your child’s education from the very beginning of their journey with us.

Dance, music, and drama are woven into the BGS Infant curriculum, with children benefiting from specialist teachers and access to the exceptional facilities of the state-of-the-art 1532 Performing Arts Centre.

We believe that performing to an audience is a valuable experience, helping to build confidence, encourage self-expression, and, most importantly, bringing joy through creative exploration. From their earliest years, children are given numerous opportunities to step onto the stage and share their talents.

Every pupil takes part in the much-loved Infant Nativity, progressing from ensemble roles in Reception to more prominent speaking parts in Year 2. In the Summer Term, our Infant Summer Concert offers another exciting opportunity to shine, with a new theme each year celebrating music, dance, and drama while showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of our youngest performers.

For budding musicians, our Teatime Concerts provide an informal setting where children from Year 1 upwards can perform at the end of the school day. Groups such as our Toots Club also take part, offering children their first experience of performing as part of an ensemble.

Through these rich experiences, every child at BGS Infants is encouraged to find their voice, build confidence, and discover the joy of performance, creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.
